The combiphone is designed to locate grounded non-magnetic wires. The system uses a method called electro-acoustic detection, which means that the Combiphon emits sound waves to which non-magnetic wire responds to a greater degree than the earth around it. The combiphon perceives the reverberation from the grounded non-metallic wire and emits a signal to the user.
